In short
Check Point AI Security is Check Point's set of products for securing AI, unified as the AI Defense Plane. It covers employee AI use (Workforce AI Security), AI applications and agents you build (AI Agent Security), adversarial testing (AI Red Teaming) and AI traffic through existing firewalls (AI Network Firewall). Most organisations start with Workforce AI Security.

What Check Point AI Security covers
Check Point describes its business in four strategic pillars: Hybrid Mesh Network Security, Workspace Security, Exposure Management and AI Security. The AI Security pillar is about securing AI wherever it runs, which Check Point splits into three places:
- Workforce: employees using AI tools in browsers, SaaS apps, desktop apps, copilots and coding assistants.
- Applications: AI features your organisation embeds in customer-facing and internal applications, where risk shifts to prompts, responses and model behaviour.
- Agents: autonomous agents that use tools, files and systems, where the concern is what the agent does rather than only what it says.
Check Point also lists security for AI factories and data centres running private models and GPU infrastructure. That is a specialist area outside the focus of this site.
The AI Defense Plane
On 23 March 2026 Check Point launched the AI Defense Plane, which it describes as a unified AI security control plane across employee AI use, AI applications and agentic systems. It is built on Check Point's AI Security platform and draws on ThreatCloud AI and technology from Check Point's Lakera and Cyata acquisitions.
Check Point organises it around three verbs:
- Discover: map how employees, applications and agents interact with AI, including shadow AI.
- Protect: defend against prompt injection, data leakage, harmful outputs and unsafe agent behaviour.
- Govern: apply consistent policy across AI interactions, with audit trails and compliance reporting.
At launch the AI Defense Plane had three primary modules: Workforce AI Security, AI Application & Agent Security, and AI Red Teaming. In July 2026 Check Point added the AI Network Firewall, which brings parts of the same capability to the firewalls customers already run.

Start with Workforce AI Security
For most UK organisations the first AI risk is not a home-built agent; it is staff pasting client data into a chatbot, installing an AI browser extension or connecting a coding assistant to a database. That is what Check Point Workforce AI Security is for. Check Point sums it up as a way to "discover, govern, and protect employee AI usage across browser, desktop, and agents".
It comes in two tiers:
- Workforce AI Security Essentials: web-focused discovery, governance and protection for AI used through browser applications.
- Workforce AI Security Enterprise: coverage across web, desktop, IDEs and MCP, adding a desktop agent for desktop AI apps, coding assistants and agents.
Our guide to how Workforce AI Security works walks through discovery, assessment, governance and protection in detail, and the Essentials vs Enterprise comparison helps you choose.
AI Agent Security: for the agents you build
If your organisation builds AI assistants, chatbots or agents, the risk moves into your own applications. Check Point AI Agent Security discovers agents across supported cloud and low-code platforms, assesses each agent's risk across its tools, skills and MCP servers, controls which tools and MCP servers agents may use, evaluates agent actions at runtime and protects against prompt attacks, including indirect injection, and sensitive data exposure.
It descends from Lakera's runtime protection technology. Read more on our Check Point AI Agent Security page, and see MCP security for the tool-access side.
Is Check Point AI Security the right fit for you?
We will check it against your systems and requirements and recommend the right option.
AI red teaming
AI red teaming means testing AI systems by simulating real attacks and misuse, to find security, safety and reliability weaknesses before someone else does. Check Point's own FAQ distinguishes it from penetration testing: a pen test looks at networks, infrastructure, APIs and applications, whereas AI red teaming looks at how models, applications and agents respond to adversarial input, such as prompt injection, jailbreaks, data leakage attempts, harmful outputs and unsafe tool use.
Check Point AI Red Teaming, which grew out of Lakera's red teaming product, is described by Check Point as offering:
- Broad coverage: testing across a wide range of foundation models, plus custom model deployments, live applications and agent endpoints.
- Automated and targeted campaigns: broad scans across security, safety and responsible-AI categories, or focused adversarial campaigns.
- Context-specific attacks: scenarios generated for your architecture, prompts and controls rather than only generic prompt libraries.
- Replay and regression testing: re-running tests after model updates, prompt changes or new capabilities to see how risk shifts.
Check Point suggests using it during development, before production release and on a recurring basis afterwards. Check Point listed AI Red Teaming as in limited release when the AI Defense Plane launched, so we confirm current availability for your use case when we quote. It is relevant if you build AI; it is not needed simply because staff use ChatGPT.
AI Network Firewall: AI security from the firewall you run
Announced on 30 July 2026 and delivered in Check Point firewall software release R82.20, the AI Network Firewall extends the AI Defense Plane to physical and virtual Check Point firewalls. Check Point says it covers employee AI use, discovery and policy for MCP communication, and inline prompt injection prevention for AI applications, and that existing Check Point firewalls can act as an additional enforcement point for Workforce AI Security.
See our Check Point AI Network Firewall page for what it does and who it suits.
From Lakera to Check Point
On 16 September 2025 Check Point announced an agreement to acquire Lakera, an AI-native security company with AI research and development centres in Zurich and San Francisco. Lakera was known for Lakera Guard (runtime protection) and Lakera Red (red teaming); Lakera's website now sends visitors for those products to Check Point AI Agent Security and Check Point AI Red Teaming, and Check Point's announcement names those two as Lakera's flagship solutions. Check Point said Lakera would form the foundation of its Global Center of Excellence for AI Security.
Lakera is also known for Gandalf, which Check Point describes as an AI security training platform. Check Point says intelligence gathered from Gandalf's players powers its AI Red Teaming.
Which Check Point AI product do you need?
A quick guide:
| If this sounds like you | Start with |
|---|---|
| Staff use ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude or other AI tools and you cannot see what data goes in | Workforce AI Security Essentials |
| You also have developers using coding assistants, desktop AI apps or agents with MCP | Workforce AI Security Enterprise |
| You run Check Point firewalls and want network-level AI visibility, including unmanaged devices | AI Network Firewall, alongside Workforce AI Security |
| You are building AI assistants or agents for customers or staff | AI Agent Security, with AI Red Teaming before release |
Many organisations need only the first or second row. We help you decide, rather than sell everything at once.
